Anthony Stancomb was educated at Wellington College, St Andrews University and the London School of Film. For a few years he worked in television, and he then started his own company that promoted British art to galleries abroad. Twenty years later, realising that running what had become a large business was not what he wanted to do for the rest of his life, he discovered the island of Vis.

Curiosity steals focus. In fact, you will notice that as a common theme throughout many of the chapters. Excellent resource book for IFRS. Although (as I realized with a shock about half way through the book) K-L was just 34 when this was published, his distinctive style is already fully developed: assertive, contrarian, polyglot, unapologetically Catholic, and richly sourced and documented. The fundamental issue with Ryan's book is not that he gets facts wrong or lies - it is his ideological approach, which is sharply dedicated to American capitalism. The characters are lovingly developed and meaningful. But after reading this book I am extremely well versed in both. My issue with this is that that process may cool your wax much more than what you wanted for the pouring temperature.
