This book has its roots in a series of collaborations in the last decade at the interface between statistical physics and cosmology. The speci?c problem which initiated this research was the study of the clustering properties of galaxies as revealed by large redshift surveys, a context in which concepts of modern statistical physics (e. g. scale-invariance, fractality ) ?nd ready application. In recent years we have considerably broadened the range of problems in cosmology which we have addressed, treating in particular more theoretical issues about the statistical properties of standard cosmological models. What is common to all this research, however, is that it is informed by a perspective and methodology which is that of statistical physics. All in all i enjoyed reading about the actors even if some were before my time. I've known that nutrition and eating right is the secret to health for awhile, but this book has given me ever deeper insight and information. That is what makes this series so refreshing-- it is a great intro to the openings without spilling the Informant's guts out on 1,000 useless pages! If you want to explore a line in greater depth, Djuric gives ECOs, so you can just go online and check out endless variations free.
If you're a Master and above, this series is great to help with coaching younger players, but also has some nice very up to date ideas. For all of you out there, who once dreamed of breathing fire like Gene Simmons but are now jockeying a desk, this book is for you. I use the book as a reference when i travel to other parts of the world dealing with IFRS and GAAP. George has written a wonderful easy to read book.
